During an earlier visit to LifeSpa Prestige One, the outlet located in the Premier Wing of Carlton Hotel, I bought a trial facial that could be redeemed at the same outlet or LifeSpa Prestige Two in the Executive Wing. The latter option was closed during the pandemic but has since reopened its doors to the public after restrictions were lifted, giving me an opportunity to check it out!

- Inclusions:
- 60-minute clarifying facial trial session
- Spent: SGD$80
The space and facilities looked simple but was sufficiently comfortable and modern. The treatment room I was ushered to was also clean and spacious enough to accommodate two treatment beds. It was nice to have a heated treatment bed but the temperature it was at was still a little too cold for me.

Once the therapist settled me in, she proceeded with the treatment in this general flow:
– Cleanser and exfoliating scrub applied
– Extraction (she mentioned light extraction but it was anything but, it was the hardest force I’d ever felt on my face during a facial)
– Eyebrow trimming
– Hydro tool to massage my face (a gel was applied first but she was so crude in her movements that she smeared it onto my lips and in my eyes)
– Face and shoulder massage (this was terribly unpleasant as she was rolling her fingers and knuckles over my eyeballs repeatedly; at one point, I think she was trying to press the pressure points at the base of my eyebrows but maybe her fingers were too large so it ended up becoming another round of eyeball squishing)
– Eye collagen, mask, toner and serum application

I was infinitely glad the session was finally over along with all that rough handling from the therapist. She brought me to a small lounge area and served a cup of ginger tea (this was super strong so I ended up just drinking a separate cup of warm water) while a sales staff spoke to me. Before she even began her pitch, there was no doubt in my mind that I was ready to leave and never return. However, I was thankful that she wasn’t pushy about it.

My overall rating of the experience: 2 out of 5 stars. It was a pretty inviting space with comfy furnishing and the treatment rooms are hygienic and fairly spacious. My assigned therapist was a really nice and friendly lady but unfortunately, she seemed to have the skills of a heavy-handed amateur sorely lacking in finesse. I felt like the china getting rammed repeatedly by the proverbial reckless bull throughout the entire process. This facial actually hurt and it was the first time I’ve had such a distressing and highly uncomfortable experience. Regrettably, I can’t foresee any circumstance that will result in a return visit.
If this post helped you in some way and you’d like to buy me a coffee, I’d be incredibly grateful (:
