This cafe was the third stop that my husband, our friends and I visited on the first day of our Batam trip (the first two were Hoods Coffee Cafe and Labers Coffee Pergudangan Cafe). It was super crowded when we arrived so we had to wait at a table outside. Some customers were smoking nearby, which made the wait slightly unpleasant. Also, my friends spotted an odd-coloured roach scurrying to the underside of the table we were at. Not the most welcoming start to our time here.

- Our order:
- Dark chocolate cake (60,000++)
- Carrot cake (65,000++)
- Caramel cake (60,000++)
- Chocolate chip muffin (40,000++)
- Old-fashioned lemonade (42,000++)
- Strawberry lemonade (45,000++)
- Earl grey loose leaf tea (32,000++)
- V60 pour over Gayo Aceh coffee beans (35,000++)
- Iced latte (48,000++) with added peppermint mocha (8,000++)
- Latte (48,000++) with added homemade vanilla (8,000++)
- Spent: IDR559,740
When we finally got a table inside, I got round to exploring the cafe a little. It had a cosy chic interior with a hipster vibe about it, though it did get a tad noisy at times, making it hard to have proper conversations. The main seating area was on level 1 but there was another seating area upstairs that was empty and unutilized. There was a corridor of outdoor seats as well.

Our order only comprised desserts and drinks as we wanted to leave space for dinner later at Kelong Baba Restaurant. The dark chocolate cake was rich and decadent but the cake itself could afford to be more moist for a better texture. In contrast, the caramel cake was sufficiently moist and tasted nice, but the caramel frosting seemed to be have been frozen for days (it was almost rock-hard when we knocked our fork against it).
The signature carrot cake was the most popular and well-executed out of all the cakes we had. It was wonderfully fluffy and fragrant, tasting the freshest of the three. I had to request for the chocolate muffin to be packed as we were pretty full by then. This tasted great even after being kept for two days. Its main source of sweetness was the chocolate chips (there were so many!) so I had to dig some of them out to “manually” adjust the sweetness levels.
Our coffees were pretty acidic but they provided a good balance to the sweetness from the cakes. I really liked my peppermint mocha latte, refreshing yet comforting. The lemonades were too sour though so we had to add water to dilute them.

My overall rating of the experience: 4 out of 5 stars. This seemed quite the popular cafe as it was completely packed during out visit despite having a good number of tables and seats. I did like the overall aesthetic and ambience but it was way too crowded and noisy to properly relax there. Similarly for the dessert and drinks we ordered, it was a hit-and-miss situation where some items were significantly better than others. Having said that, I really enjoyed my peppermint mocha latte in particular (: If we were to consider a return visit, we probably have to pick a time where it isn’t so crowded for a better experience hopefully (and maybe try some of their mains too!).
If this post helped you in some way and you’d like to buy me a coffee, I’d be incredibly grateful (:
