Having just concluded a relaxing massage session at Eska Wellness Spa, my husband and I, along with our friends, were about to wrap up our day chilling here at Altitude Rooftop Bar & Lounge. This bar is located atop Batam Marriott Hotel Harbour Bay, well within walking distance of the Harbour Bay ferry terminal. We made our reservation the moment we disembarked from our ferry to hopefully secure a nice seat with a good view. Our friend was also able to get a 15% discount on our eventual bill with his Marriott Bonvoy membership, yay 😀

We arrived here pretty late in the evening so it was already dark. The atmosphere was quite chill, although at such a height, I did expect it to be a lot more windy. What an alluring view of the twinkling city lights and the sea, I can imagine how this scene would’ve been more picturesque during the sunset hour.
There were both sheltered and unsheltered seats to choose from. We opted for the sunken seats with an unobstructed view of the city. However, the experience was dampened a fair bit as the customers at the adjacent table were smoking for an extended period of time, so the smell was very unpleasant. Also, it might be prudent to bring along some insect repellent as we could feel unidentified bugs grazing our arms and legs intermittently.

Once we were done taking photos and videos of the spaces, we ordered a drink each and some truffle fries to share. The mojito (IDR128,000++) was rather average and the frozen lemon mint (IDR88,000++) was a simple lime and lemon juice sprinkled with fresh mint leaves. The lychee roselle (IDR88,000++) was a tad better with slightly more layers of flavour. It is made with Dilmah lychee tea, lychee syrup, rosella extract and lemon juice – refreshing and not overly sweet. There was a fresh lychee at the bottom but it was quite difficult to get it out with the flimsy paper straw lol. As for the truffle fries (IDR80,000++), we ordered a second serving of it because it was so delectable.

My overall rating of the experience: 4 out of 5 stars. I felt that the main draw here was the mesmerizing view and the chill ambience that was great for hanging out. Looking out at an expanse of calm seas and gleaming city lights was a fantastic way to spend our evening. Alas, given that most, if not all, of the seats are outdoors, there was no way we could predict that the table next to ours would be puffing throughout the night (really not a fan of secondhand smoke). The drinks were generally okay but the truffle fries were a real treat (: Remember your insect repellent too!
If this post helped you in some way and you’d like to buy me a coffee, I’d be incredibly grateful (:
