Trip.com was promoting ICONSIAM shopping mall gift cards on their platform for pretty decent prices ($28 for THB1000, $33 for THB1500), and since my husband and I hadn’t visited this relatively new shopping mall before, I figured we could add this to our trip itinerary armed with subsidies for our spending 😀
There are quite a number of ways to get to this mall (you can refer to their website for more details). We found our way there by taking the shuttle boat service from the Mandarin Oriental Hotel pier. It was operating every 30 minutes (do check the schedule at the pier for the most updated timings) and the ride took less than 5 minutes.
Redeeming the physical gift cards at the ICONSIAM tourist lounge on level 1 of the ICONLUXE zone was straightforward enough but apparently the THB1500 was actually split into denominations of THB1000 (with no minimum spend) and THB500 (with a minimum spend of THB1000). I felt slightly snookered as this fact was not disclosed anywhere on Trip.com’s listing.

Located on the top floor (level 6) of ICONSIAM shopping mall, Yuzu Ramen first caught my eye because of the cute mascot sitting at its entrance and my husband happened to be in the mood for ramen. After perusing their tantalizing menu and confirming that they accepted the use of gift cards, we decided to have our dinner supplement here. Plus, we were able to hit that minimum spend of THB1000 to use our THB500 gift card lol.

- Our order:
- Yuzu tsukemen (320++)
- Hotate kani miso (380++)
- Yuzu kyoho slushie (155++)
- Spent: THB1006.34
The restaurant has many Japanese elements in its design and an open concept where customers have a full view of the main walkway while dining. The number of seats were rather limited though so I can’t imagine what peak hours here would look like.

My husband ordered the yuzu tsukemen that had a rich, flavourful and slightly spicy broth. The noodles had a bouncy texture to it too!

As I was moderately stuffed from the evening canapes we had at Siam Kempinski Hotel, I just wanted to get something small to nibble on. The hotate kani miso seemed to fit that criteria, plus it looked visually interesting on the menu too. It was brought to the table on a mini charcoal grill and I was told to let it cook for a bit before eating. It tasted really yummy, although it did get a little salty towards the very end.

Their range of slushies on the menu was very tempting so we caved and got the Kyoho grape-flavoured one to share. Regrettably, we didn’t think this was worth it as it was just average-tasting grape jelly with diluted ice-blended yuzu honey.

My overall rating of the experience: 4 out of 5 stars. This restaurant had a comfortable dining ambience and served tasty food of decent quality. Although the prices were a little steeper than what we would typically get at the markets and independently owned stalls, the THB500 gift card thankfully did help offset some of that. Staff were generally helpful and ready to assist when called upon too. An overall amiable experience (:
If this post helped you in some way and you’d like to buy me a coffee, I’d be incredibly grateful (:
