While perusing the endless rows of shops at Chatuchak Weekend Market, my husband and I chanced upon a tiny cafe with unique, eye-catching Victorian-esque decor that stood in stark contrast to the shops around it. Located at Section 3 Soi 46/2, this cafe’s main product is Thai tea made from a secret premium blend of three types of fine tea. The tea is apparently freshly brewed without preservatives so it can only be kept for 3 to 5 days.

Seating space is limited, with only a handful of bar stools placed along a narrow passage. The cafe has since expanded from the time we visited to occupy two units instead of just one, but the overall layout remains elongated and narrow. No matter, the drinks are all designed for takeout anyway! On a more recent trip to Chatuchak Weekend Market, we spotted another one of their outlets at Section 4 Soi 52/1, great to know they’re doing well (:

There are a number of variations of their tea available on the menu, such as those made with soy or almond milk, and other interesting flavours like sakura blue tea or french chocolate and caramel. We went for the classic original tea, which tasted quite nice but had a slightly more pronounced sour aftertaste compared to other Thai milk teas we’ve tried. I did appreciate the fact that it was not too sweet though.
Part of the experience was getting to watch the super friendly staff serve our tea in such an artful and intentional manner. He could’ve easily just handed us the pre-packed bottle of tea or poured it directly into a takeout cup. Instead, he emptied the bottle into a gold teapot and delicately poured the contents over two big spheres of ice. He then capped it off with a spritz of gold dust and served the tea to us on a fancy gold tray. I loved that he was all smiles while preparing it and enjoying the reactions from his enthusiastic audience too!

My overall rating of the experience: 5 out of 5 stars. A bright and striking cafe shopfront with gold accents, plus an approachable and engaging staff who served our Thai milk tea with much measure and grace. The tea itself was smooth, thirst-quenching and not too sweet, very nice!
If this post helped you in some way and you’d like to buy me a coffee, I’d be incredibly grateful (:
