In the basement of Union Mall, you can find this one-of-a-kind shop selling a mind-boggling array of instant noodles. My husband’s friend randomly sent him a video of this shop and it piqued his interest enough for him to put it on our itinerary, so here we are to check it out!

With numerous shelves of instant noodles ranging from inexpensive to premium brands, I inevitably suffered from analysis paralysis from the sheer number of options. My husband also had a tough time deciding but he made up his mind much faster than I did 😛 I ended up asking one of the staff for some recommendations to help me narrow down my choices. They also sell beverages here to go along with your meal.

Next, we could pick from a selection of condiments and ingredients to go with our noodles. I liked how everything was individually pre-packed – hygienic and easy to grab and go.

After making payment at the cashier, they gave us bowls with the respective barcodes pasted on them to supposedly help the cooking appliance identify and cook our noodles accordingly.

Next, we brought our items to the prep station to put our noodles and ingredients into the bowls for cooking. I found it helpful that there were large overhead signs with numbers to tell you the sequence and where to go so just follow those if you’re not sure what to do next.

It was time to cook our noodles! There are separate cooking stations to use depending on whether you’re having dry or soup noodles. Once we scanned the bowl barcodes at our respective cooking stations, the appliances did most of the work on its own and beeped to notify us that the cooking was done. My husband was having the dry noodles, so he was rather impressed that the appliance basically evaporated the excess water such that he didn’t have to pour any water out. The mixing in of the sauces had to be done manually though.
If you are stuck at any point, staff are around and ready to assist. There are plenty of basic fuss-free seats and tables available in the surrounding areas to enjoy your food at.

My overall rating of the experience: 4 out of 5 stars. I really enjoyed the novelty of the concept and the whole experience here, from the insane variety of instant noodles right at my fingertips to watching the appliance automatically cook my noodles to perfection. The technology was pretty intriguing to me. If I lived here, I’d probably come back a few more times to try out the different flavours of noodles. Prices here are definitely more expensive than if you were to buy these at the supermarket and cook them yourself, but hey, where’s the fun in that? 😀
If this post helped you in some way and you’d like to buy me a coffee, I’d be incredibly grateful (:
