After checking out from sister property, Siam Kempinski Hotel, my husband and I hopped straight over to Sindhorn Kempinski Hotel for the tail end of our Bangkok trip. Opening its doors in 2020, this hotel has a strong focus on wellness, with many of its programmes, facilities and dining options reflecting this philosophy. However, what really caught my husband’s attention was the building’s distinctive architecture and the design of its spaces. With the help of some promo codes and Trip coins on Trip.com, we managed to snag this stay at a more palatable price (:

Check-in
Our check-in process was super smooth thanks to the awesome Gent in Red, Achirawat, from Siam Kempinski Hotel, who gave the team here a call to inform them about our arrival. Once we alighted and were ushered to a table at the reception area, Monchanok, one of the Ladies in Red, came to welcome us with chilled glasses of Suwirun tea from Chiang Rai. We could also select one welcome amenity from the options of juice of the day, homemade dark chocolate bars or mango sticky rice. We went for the delicious mango sticky rice, which was beautifully presented in the shape of a flower.
Monchanok shared that we’d been upgraded to a suite, although it was purely a room upgrade without the accompanying Executive Lounge benefits and access to the Sindhorn Wellness Spa’s Thermal Journeys facilities. The 4pm late check-out as part of the GHA Discovery loyalty programme was honoured as well. She then chatted with us while walking us to our room and showed us where everything was inside. What a pleasant start!

Room
Our gigantic room was on the 11th floor (out of 19 floors) and came with a balcony view of the city. It was such a luxury to have so much space to ourselves, everything felt new and well-maintained too! My favourite aspect was that all the seats in the room were firm and didn’t sink in when sat on, very supportive furniture π There was a walk-in closet that connected the entrance to the equally huge bathroom that came with an immense freestanding tub.
The firm pillow I’d requested for at check-in was delivered quite promptly, though it wasn’t as firm as I hoped it would be. Thank goodness the mattress was sufficiently solid for sleeping comfortably. Turndown service was provided upon request and entailed the regular clearing of trash, drawing of curtains and setting of the bed.

The wider-than-usual selection of mini-bar items were all complimentary and were in line with the health and wellness theme of the hotel. As such, we didn’t really enjoy some items like the kombucha (psst, these bottles are free-flow at breakfast if it’s your thing) and packet snacks, but we did like the fruit juices and the smooth Acqua Panna mineral water. The in-room welcome snack amenity tasted a little too “healthy” as well, so we didn’t finish it. We appreciated the thought nonetheless!

Facilities
On level 9 is where you’ll find the infinity swimming pool, largely indoors and sheltered so it can still be used in rainy weather but also open-air with sweeping views of Lumphini Park so it feels somewhat outdoorsy. Smaller jacuzzi sections are available at both ends of the pool.
The entrance to the gym, as well as the other state-of-the-art workout facilities, is situated on level 2 of the property. One of the staff kindly showed me around the yoga studio, HIIT and boxing studio, pilates studio, a studio fitted with spin bikes for Les Mills virtual-reality cycling and so forth. In addition, guests can join the fitness classes conducted here by trainers and instructors at a fee.

Breakfast was served at Flourish restaurant, the hotel’s main all-day dining restaurant on level 1. It occupies a fairly expansive area and there were plenty of seats such that we never had to wait for a table. As for the spread, it had a pretty good variety with decent options for those who have alternative diets. We could get made-to-order eggs and some special local dishes as well – we ended up trying the minced pork Thai omelette and shrimp dumplings in egg noodle soup. It was great that they had fresh juices, including those classic Kempinski power juice shots, and even fresh coconuts! Not forgetting that luscious honeycomb at the pancakes and waffles section (:
One minor setback we faced on the first day of breakfast was that the staff attending to our table didn’t understand English. We had trouble getting our noodle orders through (then he mistakenly brought us two bowls instead of just one) and were left in the dark as to whether or not they served Thai milk tea (we almost got served a cup of hot milk instead). Anyway, we sat at a different section on the second day and it was a much smoother experience.

During the time of our stay, the other dining options in the hotel included the Lobby Lounge (a glorious sun-drenched atrium with plush furniture), Berthold Delikatessen (a grab-and-go deli that is one of four branches in the world) and Firefly Bar (a jazz bar that also houses the Casa Del Habano cigar parlour). I was told that live jazz musicians take to the stage here every night!
We didn’t manage to check out the now open Ki Izakaya and Bistrot De La Mer as these were still under renovation while we were there. The ambience at these restaurants look wonderfully inviting though, I would’ve loved to have had the opportunity to dine there.

On our second day here, Monchanok gave us a brief tour of the Executive Lounge on level 19. It is a well-lit, cosy space but it did feel a little sparse in terms of furnishing.

Sindhorn Wellness by Resense is the luxury spa located on level 9. On top of offering massages, facials, hammam experiences and many other treatments, they also have a really comprehensive suite of spa facilities called Thermal Journeys. The original price for a Thermal Journeys day pass is THB1500++ but as an in-house guest, I only had to fork out THB500++ to access the facilities.
The two saunas were my favourites, in addition to the tepidarium lounge with heated loungers and amazing views. However, the aroma steam room was a little off-putting as it smelled of sweat and stale socks (I hope they’ve cleared out whatever was causing that stench). For convenient, direct access to the swimming pool, simply head to the door at the end of the corridor (entry back through this door requires your wristband key so be sure to bring it along with you).

The hotel provides complimentary daily shuttle bus services to locations such as Central Chidlom shopping mall and BTS stations like Chit Lom and Ratchadamri. Do make a reservation with the concierge team at least an hour before you plan to depart.

As with our experience at Siam Kempinski Hotel, the standards of service from the lovely Ladies in Red were impeccable. When Monchanok heard about our breakfast situation and the miscommunication we had with the staff assigned to our table, she took the initiative to send a glass of Thai milk tea to our room as a surprise. We found out from her that Thai milk tea was only available at an extra charge during breakfast, but the one she sent was on the house for the inconvenience we faced. It was a really sweet gesture (:
At check-out, I had the pleasure of having a nice conversation with another Lady in Red, Jenjira. We even spoke about my friend (whom she surprisingly remembers) who stayed here a few months before we did. When we were about to leave, Monchanok and Jenjira then presented us with a farewell gift of a really cute elephant stuffed toy and two bottles of lavender pillow mist before saying their goodbyes! Once again, just so much love from the Kempinski team β€

My overall rating of the experience: 5 out of 5 stars. I was very much captivated by the charming interiors and spaces throughout the hotel as there was an earthy yet opulent vibe about them. A truly unique aesthetic that we haven’t really seen in other hotels. Our room was uber spacious and comfortable with a wonderful view too. In addition, the spa and workout facilities are really extensive, perfect for those seeking a mindful, wellness-focused stay. But it was the sincere and thoughtful service from the staff, especially the fantastic Ladies in Red, that was most impressive! Throughout our entire stay, we felt pampered and well taken care of. I really appreciate just how approachable and proactive Monchanok and Jenjira were β€ All in all, we had a delightful and memorable experience here!
If this post helped you in some way and you’d like to buy me a coffee, I’d be incredibly grateful (:
