Right after checking out from Village Hotel Sentosa, my husband and I made our way across the common pool deck to The Outpost Hotel, also managed by Far East Hospitality. This hotel is strictly an adults-only accommodation (all guests must be age 16 and above), standing in stark contrast to Village Hotel Sentosa’s more family-friendly stance. I thought it quite interesting and strategic of them to build both hotels in the same location but serve completely different segments of the vacationer demographic. Regardless, I was glad to be able to try both out thanks to a flash sale on Trip.com!

Check-in
Stepping into the reception area on level 3, it was an immediate change of mood from the bustling vibes at Village Hotel Sentosa. The hushed stillness of this elegant space set the tone for the rest of our relaxing stay. Yenny, one of the reception staff, assisted us with our check-in and very kindly upgraded us to a sea view room! I appreciated how candid she was in our interactions as we bonded over our common disdain for cold environments.

While waiting for the check-in process to be completed, we were served a welcome drink in a pretty rose gold pineapple cup. This drink is called the apple sling and is a mix of apple and guava juice with a dash of cinnamon.

All guests get to select five complimentary mini-bar items from the drawers at the reception, similar to the practice at The Clan Hotel. We went for chips and cookies over the nuts and granola bites (sorry, health). Additionally, because our stay was during the Christmas period, we received extra goodies like festive-themed macarons, a scented candle and a box of chocolates!

Room
The room we were assigned to was on level 6, the highest floor for guest rooms. Its interiors sport a slick monochromatic theme with a clean and minimalistic look, a very inviting space indeed. The room layout here is essentially the same as the one we stayed in at Village Hotel Sentosa, just that this one comes with a sofa instead of a bathtub. There is even a Toto bidet as well! Turndown service was provided upon request, where the trash was cleared and items were replenished.
Unfortunately, there were some issues that came up along the way. We found a greenish-yellow stain on the blanket cover that was so hardened I couldn’t even scratch it off with wet wipes, pretty nasty. Furthermore, the firm pillow I asked for looked and felt exactly like the regular soft pillows already in the room (was I snookered?) and the bed was on the mushy side, which wasn’t great for my sleep.

Facilities
If you’re planning to take a dip, you’ll certainly be spoilt for choice as there are a total of four swimming pools on level 3 (the gym is located on this level too). It is worth highlighting that these facilities are shared with guests from Village Hotel Sentosa so it can get crowded quite easily. I shan’t rehash the details of these facilities here but you can refer to my previous review for more information (: If you prefer a more exclusive space that only guests from this hotel can access, head up to the rooftop pool at 1-Altitude Coast Bar on level 7 instead. Embellished with swaying palm trees and pops of turqoise, this place exudes tropical beach vibes and offers breathtaking panoramic views of the beach.
The hotel also organizes free-to-join activities for guests, such as yoga sessions, dance fitness classes, movie screenings and cocktail-making workshops so don’t forget to check those out!

Since we weren’t keen to venture too far out for food (even though there was a complimentary shuttle bus to various locations from Village Hotel Sentosa), we opted to have lunch at Sol & Ora, a bright and breezy restaurant next to 1-Altitude Coast Bar. They have a small menu consisting of Mediterranean dishes, from which we ordered the tagliatelle ‘Corsican’ carbonara ($24++) and the seared red Norwegian salmon ($32++).
The tagliatelle was amazing, having a texture similar to that of fresh pasta (it could’ve been fresh pasta for all we know, heh). In addition, the sauce perfectly coated each strand of pasta and every bite was nicely flavoured with guanciale. The salmon wasn’t too shabby either – its centre was incredibly soft and moist, flaking away easily in juicy chunks. Although the cost of this lunch was entirely out of budget, at least we got to shave off 10% from the bill as in-house guests and another $10 from points accumulated via the 1-Insider rewards programme.
If your package includes breakfast, it will be served at this restaurant. Alas, this is done in a semi-buffet style, where a small selection of sides like fruits, pastries and other daily specials are free-flow but you’re limited to ordering just one main. Our stay this time didn’t include breakfast so I contemplated adding it on just to try it out. However, we ultimately didn’t think it was worth shelling out $35++ per pax for such a restricted menu.

My overall rating of the experience: 4 out of 5 stars. This adults-only hotel is well-suited for those looking for a peaceful and quiet getaway, which was what we experienced. I really like the aesthetics of the room – slick and modern with clean lines and no visual clutter. The large floor-to-ceiling window let in a ton of natural light as well (although this resulted in the room being rather heated up in the late afternoon). A pity that the room’s cleanliness was called into question as we found a hardened greenish-yellow stain on our blanket cover. In terms of service, all the staff we came in contact with were polite and professional. Yenny, in particular, stood out as she was warmer and more forthcoming in her demeanour (: Despite the slightly elevated prices at Sol & Ora restaurant, I’m glad we decided to give it a shot as we thoroughly enjoyed the food there. Other dining options within walking distance include restaurants at nearby hotels (such as Village Hotel Sentosa and Oasia Resort Sentosa), Mess Hall (situated next to Village Hotel Sentosa) and Resorts World Sentosa (a further distance away).
Here are some links to discounted F&B vouchers for 1-Altitude Coast Bar and Sol & Ora if you’re planning on dining there! A little saving never hurt anyone 😉
If this post helped you in some way and you’d like to buy me a coffee, I’d be incredibly grateful (:
