After exploring pretty much all of Lard Yai Sunday Walking Street Market, my husband and I were in dire need of a sitting break. We spotted this cafe earlier while walking the market and made a mental note to come back and peruse the shelves of books they had inside!

- Our order:
- Iced Thai milk tea (THB95)
- Hot Thai style coffee (THB100)
- Spent: THB195
This cafe sells beverages, pastries and secondhand books, and has a cosy interior with an artsy vintage feel. There are two seating sections – one in the front (with limited seats) and another at the back sporting a much higher ceiling. During our visit, the air-conditioning was super cold, which would be a desirable environment for most given Phuket’s weather but I was positively frozen by the time we left.

Anyway, I ordered a Thai milk tea with less ice (hence, the not-so-full glass). It was exactly how I expected it to be – sweet, smooth and thirst-quenching. My husband got a hot Thai style coffee, which tasted like a regular, yummy cappuccino.
What I thought was rather fascinating was the use of old printing press metal plates beneath the table glass as decor. Along with other decorative trinkets around the cafe, these elements really create a space that feels unique and endearing.

My overall rating of the experience: 4 out of 5 stars. I’m glad we stumbled upon this interesting cafe with such character (: Even though they only have a simple menu of beverages and pastries, the pleasant ambience and artsy elements were enough to keep us lingering for longer. It was a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of the market crowds. The drinks were enjoyable too! One minor drawback was that the prices here were much higher than those at the night market right outside. We also had an odd encounter with another customer who requested to borrow our power bank, and wasn’t quite aware of when he should give it back. Other than that, this cafe was a gem of a find!
If this post helped you in some way and you’d like to buy me a coffee, I’d be incredibly grateful (:
