The next morning, we had the option of having our breakfast, which was served between 6.30am and 10.30am, at Karang (AYANA Segara), Padi (AYANA Resort) or To’Ge (Rimba). Since Karang was just downstairs, that made the most sense, plus the interior looked comparatively more modern.
There was a substantial variety of items in the buffet spread, along with live stations serving eggs and noodles. They even had bottles of yakult, as well as fresh pineapple and watermelon juices! Everything tasted pretty yummy, especially the fluffy banana pancakes and French toast, as well as the hearty soto ayam and miso soups. The refrigerated desserts, on the other hand, tasted a little funky so I’d suggest skipping those.
As this is an open-air restaurant, I expected the place to be swarming with flies but thankfully, there were only the occasional one or two stragglers.

Since my husband had a side quest of spotting famous e-sports players and hopefully getting a selfie with them, we headed over to To’Ge at Rimba to see who we could find. While he went about his business, I checked out the buffet spread here.
It was equally varied and had a couple of different items from Karang, like the Japanese curry, pizza and matcha donuts. There seemed to be a lot more local dishes as well. However, in terms of taste and quality, Karang’s was definitely much better. The environment also felt dimmer and it was a lot more crowded here.

After breakfast, we hopped on the tram to check out the secluded Kubu Beach. Along the way, we passed by the Monkey Forest where we caught a glimpse of some monkeys chilling out. The tram driver actually slowed down to point out where the monkeys were!

The tram stop is located on the clifftop just above Kubu Beach – the view here is just indescribable so we paused to soak it all in before heading down. To get to the beach, you can either take a mini lift (you’ll need to provide your room number to use it) or descend a long and winding flight of stairs. The beach itself is fairly small with a lifeguard on duty and a lady who was providing hair-braiding and massage services.

Adjacent to the beach area is Kubu Beach Club, with outward-facing cabanas boasting gorgeous views of the turquoise ocean.

Heading back, I planned to grab a drink at UNIQUE, the funky rooftop bar and restaurant with an infinity pool at Rimba Hotel. However, the staff never came to take my order even after I got her attention, so I upped and left as we needed to check out soon. The upper decks looked like a breezy and casual place to chill out so that was a pity.

During check-in, we received coupons that could be used to exchange for welcome drinks. Funnily enough, we only redeemed them towards the end of our stay at Luna, the rooftop bar at AYANA Segara. As Andika mentioned during the Farm Tour, the welcome drinks are made from their farm-grown rosella in the form of a tea (heavily diluted if I might add).

Aside from dining establishments, the hotels also have an incredibly extensive range of facilities. There are three gyms across the entire estate – AYANA gym, Segara gym and Rimba gym. Additionally, there is a shopping arcade, two professional-grade tennis courts, a mini-golf course and AYANA Kids Club situated at AYANA Resort.

At a fee, guests can enjoy the AYANA Spa and their famed Thalassotherapy Pool for adults only. Photos weren’t allowed in a bid to respect the guests’ privacy but as I walked around to observe the premises, it didn’t appear as pristine as what is portrayed on the website.

Guests have access to a total of 13 swimming pools located at the various hotels. While I was at the Ocean Beach Pool, I noticed that staff were giving out complimentary juice shots to keep guests hydrated. A thoughtful gesture that I hope is implemented at the other pools too!

During our check-out, I had a nice chat with Dennis, the manager on duty, where he shared some tips for making purchases from a travel agency he used to work at. Bidding us farewell, he handed us a parting gift of ginger tea!

My overall rating of the experience: 4 out of 5 stars. I absolutely loved our room as it was such an inviting space to relax in, and I was super sad that we only had a fleeting weekend to spend in it! The staff were incredible and the service was top-notch too, just about everyone we interacted with was so warm and welcoming ❤ You don’t have to worry about monotony here as guests have access to pretty much all the other hotels’ restaurants, facilities and activities, including exclusive sunset-hour reservations at the award-winning Rock Bar (: The Achilles’ heel of this experience was actually the inconsistency of the food quality across the various restaurants we dined at, where some dishes were very memorable while others were plain mediocre. Nevertheless, we still had a superb time here and I did wish we had a few more days to fully explore all that this place had to offer. With a major renovation of AYANA Resort and Villas being recently completed, who knows, we might be back to give that a try!

If this post helped you in some way and you’d like to buy me a coffee, I’d be incredibly grateful (:
