Whenever my husband is in Bangkok, getting a massage is always on his list of things to do. After doing a search on Google, he found one that was conveniently located next to the entrance connecting MBK Center shopping mall to Pathumwan Princess Hotel where we were staying. This spa had a range of services on its menu, including various massages, facial treatments, as well as nail treatments.

- Inclusions:
- 45-minute head massage for 1
- Spent: THB800
We entered a small waiting area decked out in black and gold and designed in a lux fashion. Alas, I didn’t quite vibe with the place and it wasn’t a spot that I would’ve shortlisted to begin with, so I just tagged along with my husband to take photos and get a feel of the spaces. However, despite the staff knowing that I wasn’t there for any treatment, they still warmly brought me a welcome drink and cold towel along with my husband’s! ❤

Opting for a 45-minute head massage, my husband’s treatment started with a foot wash and scrub. Then, he was ushered to a dimly lit treatment area, which comprised of beds in close proximity to each other and separated by mere curtains (not the kind of set-up I fancy). With that said, the beds looked pretty hygienic so that was a plus point.
According to my husband, he felt that the massage was an average one. The masseuse didn’t use sufficient pressure to have a significant effect. It didn’t help that the masseuse applied coconut oil too as he would’ve preferred a head massage with more friction and stretching.

After the massage, the staff served us some tea and snacks (once again, accounting for my portion, which I found absolutely thoughtful).

My overall rating of the experience: 3 out of 5 stars. I generally don’t prefer spas that mostly use curtains as dividers instead of having proper rooms, so only my husband got a massage here this time. But having said that, I must commend the cleanliness of the spaces and treatment beds, which seemed to be very decent. Additionally, the staff were really hospitable and generous – even though I was just there to accompany my husband and check out the premises, they still kindly offered me tea, snacks and a towel before and after my husband’s treatment! Unfortunately for my husband, he found the head massage neither effective nor enjoyable as there wasn’t enough pressure applied. It might’ve just been that particular masseuse but it is unlikely that we’ll be back to test out that theory.
If this post helped you in some way and you’d like to buy me a coffee, I’d be incredibly grateful (:
