Having followed a number of yummylicious baked goods accounts on Instagram, it was probably only a matter of time before more of such recommendations started appearing on my feed. I chanced upon Bitten & Co., founded by fashion entrepreneur turned home-baker, Zoe Seetoh, in an Instagram giveaway contest post (didn’t win anything though, heh). The delectable photos of muffins oozing melted lava chocolate was what piqued my tastebuds’ interest and I began to plan when to make a purchase to try them out.
Bitten & Co. has a staple menu of rich chocolate fudge brownies, as well as dark chocolate lava muffins and cookies. There is also a rotating weekly menu of other interesting flavours that come in an Assorted Box, usually comprising a mix of muffins and cookies. I, for one, love basic tried-and-tested flavours so I patiently waited week on week for an Assorted Box with items that had a more classic flavour profile.
Islandwide delivery is available between 10am to 8pm at a flat fee of $6.90, which I thought was pretty pricey. You can also opt for self-collection at Orchard Gateway between 4pm to 8pm. Both delivery and self-collection happen on selected Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Orders can be made either via their Instagram DM or their website. I chose delivery on Friday so that I could have ample time over the weekend to enjoy these bakes!

I started with the odd-one-out in the pack, the milk chocolate lava cookie! It was soft and slightly chewy, exactly how I like my cookies. But because it was devoured in a flash before I could even register its existence, I have to admit that it didn’t really make an impression. Maybe I need to order the box of 10 next time for the experience to properly sink in 😛

Over the next 3 days, my husband and I savoured the muffins for breakfast and as an after-dinner dessert. These muffins are substantial and definitely filling for a breakfast meal. What impressed me most was how the chocolate could be so rich and creamy without giving you that “heaty” or “sick of it” feeling (I’m easily prone to this so I actually don’t eat stuff like chocolate bars). Might’ve been something to do with the sweetness level, which was at the optimal point for me, perfect! They were a tad oily though, but I guess that’s to be expected with moist molten muffins.
My favourites were the milk and dark chocolate muffins (not surprising given my preference for classic flavours) 😀 In comparison, the white chocolate and speculoos muffins were a little on the sweeter side. Nevertheless, they were all satisfyingly delicious and a great way to treat ourselves at the end of a tiring week (:

My overall rating of the experience: 4 out of 5 stars. Wonderfully soft, moist and tasty bakes that come with gooey cores of chocolate, what’s not to love? Also, I like how the bakers are generally light-handed with the sugar, which makes for better-tasting and less guilt-inducing muffins and cookies in my books. I chose not to heat them up as I thought they were already yummy as is, but if you prefer to, clear instructions are provided on how to go about doing it. My only gripe would be the hefty price of delivery, the same barrier I contend with when it comes to ordering deliveries from most bakeries. On a separate note, I would like to commend Zoe (or whoever it is manning the DM orders) for being so accommodating and flexible. Initially, I had given my workplace address for the delivery as it was during my working hours, but I was hit with a 5-day MC and had to stay home. It was very kind of them to allow the change in address at such short notice, appreciate it very much! ❤
