This Batam trip I was on with my husband and friends was largely a cafe-hopping trip, with our first stop being Hoods Coffee! I was so caught up with whole experience that I forgot to properly document what all of us ordered, so the section below with our orders only entails my best guesstimate (couldn’t remember all the drinks)!

- Our order:
- Peanut butter cookie (22,000+)
- Buttermilk chicken and chips (70,000+)
- Ham and cheese garlic bread (38,000+)
- Truffle parmesan fries (40,000+)
- Cinnamon croffle (24,000+)
- Beef donburi (68,000+)
- Burnt basque cheesecake (48,000+)
- Portuguese egg tart (18,000+)
- Mushroom alfredo pasta (68,000+)
- Butter cream coffee (55,000+) x3
- Lemon soda (40,000+)
- Spent: IDR661,100
Stepping through the doors, I was getting those chill Bali cafe sort of vibes – open, airy and breezy with greenery and wooden elements. I really liked how the space was swathed in soft, natural sunlight, along with the clean lines and modern interior. There were cement slab seats outdoors as well for that minimalistic industrial look. Even the restrooms looked stylish!

My husband ordered a peanut butter cookie and butter cream coffee for himself. Wow, this coffee was such a hit! Just smooth and creamy with a hint of sweetness. He was so approving of it that two of our friends decided to get it as well. He also liked the cookie, which had a soft texture with crusted edges all around. It wasn’t overly sweet either. I liked the chunks of chocolate chips in there, what a treat to bite into (:

My order was the ham and cheese garlic bread. It had a great combination of savoury and spicy flavours. In fact, the jalapeño bits were a tad too spicy for me that I needed to take breaks in between instead of eating it all at one go. The truffle parmesan fries we bought to share were nice and fragrant thick-cut fries with lots of potato to bite into. As for the buttermilk chicken and chips, it was unfortunately very mediocre ):

The rest of the items we had were pretty okay, not particularly memorable but still fairly yummy. For instance, the croffle was decent but was basically just a super crispy waffle (not really my thing). However, the mushroom alfredo pasta was tasty and flavourful, I’d highly recommend it! I liked the pasta’s doneness, which was slightly softer than al dente.

My overall rating of the experience: 5 out of 5 stars. This was one of those cafes where the longer we stayed, the more food and drinks we wanted to try. We found the prices to be rather reasonable and much of what we ordered tasted delicious. The butter cream coffee is a must-try in our opinion ❤ The bright and breezy ambience was also a major factor inviting us to linger for a while more. We even headed outdoors to take group photos at the seating area, whiling away our afternoon until our second cafe stop!
If this post helped you in some way and you’d like to buy me a coffee, I’d be incredibly grateful (:
