While searching for spas to check out in Phuket, I came across some good reviews online for this one so my husband and I decided to try it out. Situated on the eastern side of the island near Old Phuket Town, this spa is the first of its kind in Phuket to uniquely combine Japanese onsen culture with traditional Thai massages.
We purchased a discounted voucher for this experience on Klook and all we had to do was make a reservation with the spa directly via Whatsapp. On the day itself, we showed them the voucher for their records. Really convenient!
The car ride from our accommodation at Mövenpick Myth Hotel Patong took almost an hour (most of our activities on this trip were on this side of the island), which made me realize that I should’ve figured out our activities first before deciding where to stay 😛 Anyway, our driver followed the GPS that strangely directed him to drop us off at the fenced up university nearby, resulting in us having to walk a huge detour to get to the spa. To avoid this, look out for the Esso gas station to stop at as the spa is located within its premises.

- Inclusions:
- 60-minute aromatherapy massage and 60-minute use of private deluxe onsen for 2
- Spent: SGD$52.21
Furnished with light wooden panels and furniture, the reception area exuded a calm and soothing ambience. We left our footwear at the door and changed into slippers before filling up a form to indicate our preferred pressure, as well as areas to focus on and to avoid. I love these as they reduce the likelihood of my requests getting lost in translation, as well as minimize interruptions during the massage session itself.
We got to choose our aromatherapy oil – I went for jasmine (mild floralscent) while my husband selected the rice oil (earthy scent). For our onsen use, we could opt for our preferred onsen powder to be infused in the bath water. These products were apparently imported from Japan and came in different colours – white for hydrating, blue for pain relief, green for refreshing and purple for relaxing. We decided to go with the white option (:

Once that was settled, we had a brief footwash before being shown to our couple treatment room. Given how the rest of the interiors looked, I was little surprised that the treatment room was so plain and unadorned. Nevertheless, I appreciated that the environment and linen were clean.
Our aromatherapy massage lasted 60 minutes and we both came out feeling like it was a rather average experience. My masseuse seemed a tad clumsy in her strokes but I can’t deny that it was still a comfortable, non-painful massage as the pressure she applied was exactly what I asked for.

Next, our masseuses dressed us in yukatas and ushered us to the onsen room. If it’s your first time using an onsen, simply follow the instructions there to know what to do and what to look out for. Cold water and small towels are provided, as well as toiletries and amenities like a hairdryer, a comb and cotton buds.
The time we spent here was very relaxing as the water was the perfect temperature for soaking and the view of the zen garden outside was lovely. The minerals in the onsen powder also left our skin feeling nice and smooth to the touch.
We did have a hilarious moment halfway through when my husband unknowingly butt-pressed the onsen’s drain plug. We were extremely puzzled for a while as we tried to figure out whether the water level was actually dropping or it was just the heat getting to our heads (and eyes)!

After we got dressed and headed out, the staff brought us some warm towels, piping hot tea and cutely packaged cookies to conclude our time here.

My overall rating of the experience: 4 out of 5 stars. Most of the spaces here were alluring and inviting, which really helped us relax and wind down. The onsen is a definite must-try if you visit, it is an absolute tranquil haven ❤ We enjoyed many quiet moments of just being, soaking in the warm waters and gazing out into the garden. Alas, our massage was comfortable but not quite up to par. In fact, if they had an onsen-only option (which I can’t seem to find), that’s what we’d go for the next time we return. But given the price we paid, I’d say it was a very decent, value-for-money experience!
If this post helped you in some way and you’d like to buy me a coffee, I’d be incredibly grateful (:
