After checking in at Courtyard By Marriott Hotel Phuket Town, my husband and I were looking for a spot to grab some lunch. Since he wanted to make a reservation at Luna Massage & Head Spa, we decided to hop over to this Italian restaurant that was located just next door.

- Our order:
- Vongole pasta (THB290)
- Camatriciana pasta (THB320 + THB50 for fresh pasta)
- Marni’s cheesecake (THB280)
- Spent: THB874
The restaurant inhabits a compact shop space with only a handful of tables. While the front space has a brighter, more open feel thanks to the white walls and tall ceiling, the area further inside feels significantly dimmer and less spacious. In terms of service, staff here were generally polite but they didn’t interact much with customers unless necessary.

My husband ordered a camatriciana (a combination of amatriciana and carbonara sauce with guanciale) and forked out another THB50 for fresh tagliatelle pasta. The sauce was enjoyable and had a spicy kick to it, with bursts of salty guanciale in each bite. However, he didn’t find the fresh pasta impressive as it was comparable to the regular pasta I had on my plate.
The vongole pasta I ordered turned out pretty average. The clams were relatively big and plump but I didn’t really taste the white wine in the sauce. To make matters worse, I found a short strand of hair at the bottom of my plate. After informing the staff, I waited another 10 minutes for a fresh order. Not a great first impression.

For dessert, we shared the signature Marni’s cheesecake that consisted of mascarpone cream cheese, vanilla crumble, as well as a tomato and strawberry sauce. This was initially quite yummy, but it eventually got a little gluggy and cloying after a while so we didn’t finish it.

My overall rating of the experience: 3 out of 5 stars. Although the general environment here was well-kept, clean and comfortable, the food itself was a bit of a hit-and-miss. My husband’s dish was pretty decent (except the fresh pasta didn’t taste different from the regular pasta in my dish) while mine was sorely lacking in flavour. I also found a short strand of hair at the bottom of my plate, which was rather off-putting. As part of service recovery, the staff included a 10% discount on both our mains upon request. Maybe we should’ve tried their pizzas instead as that’s what seems to be earning them those rave reviews on Google but it’s highly unlikely there’ll be a do-over for that to happen.
If this post helped you in some way and you’d like to buy me a coffee, I’d be incredibly grateful (:
