My husband and I chanced upon this intriguing, two-storey stand-alone cafe en route to Phuket Indy market (which was sadly not open on the Saturday night we were there). Opening its doors in 2020, this branch is the third one of the Day & Night brand of cafes across Thailand. With our original dinner plans squashed, we decided to go ahead and give this dinner spot a shot.

- Our order:
- Pop up tea (THB130++)
- Premium Thai iced tea with homemade milk sauce (THB180++ for 2 glasses)
- Thai basil fried rice with beef (THB380++)
- Fried minced pork with salted fish (THB240++)
- Grilled salmon with potato mousseline, sautéed spinach and tartar sauce (THB450++)
- Chocolate lava with ice cream (THB245++)
- Spent: THB1913
It had a warm and inviting ambience with lots of Christmas decorations at the time of our visit. The interiors had its own character, one of vintage vibes, supplemented with background music of songs by the likes of Frank Sinatra. Later in the evening at 7.30pm, a two-piece live band took to the stage, crooning chill R&B and classic tunes.
As for the service, staf were generally courteous and helpful. The one stationed at the door offered to help us take photos when she saw us taking a selfie (:

My drink order arrived first – pop up tea comprising a mix of strawberry, lemon, apple and earl grey tea (THB130++). It looked super pretty but was actually just an extremely sweet mocktail.

My husband’s drink order of premium Thai iced tea with homemade milk sauce (THB90++) came shortly after. It was aromatic, milky and full-bodied. He really liked this and ended up getting another one.
He had the spicy Thai basil fried rice with beef (THB380++) as his main but indicated for it to be less spicy (I still couldn’t handle the spiciness). This tasted fine but was largely unmemorable.

The fried minced pork with salted fish appetizer (THB240++) came next. The pork smell was pretty strong, especially for the larger pieces, so that wasn’t the most pleasant. Additionally, although the batter was flavourful, it was a little too salty for us.

My main was the grilled salmon with potato mousseline, sautéed spinach and tartar sauce (THB450++). I enjoyed this quite a bit! The crisp skin was wonderfully seasoned and the fish itself was sufficiently tender. It also paired nicely with the sour tartar sauce.

We rounded up our meal with a chocolate lava cake with ice cream (THB245++). You can choose your preferred flavour of ice cream – we went with chocolate. The lava cake had an airy texture and upon slicing through, the shiny chocolate lava oozed out perfectly.

My overall rating of the experience: 4 out of 5 stars. This cafe is one with great vibes and atmosphere, an ideal spot for relaxing in. I was drawn to the unique, thoughtfully designed interiors that didn’t make it feel like “just another cafe”. Our experience was even more enjoyable because we managed to catch the live band playing there! In terms of the menu items, some dishes and drinks were much better than others (the premium Thai iced tea, grilled salmon and chocolate lava cake were our top picks for the night). The service staff we encountered were friendly and helpful as well. Maybe if we finally get to check out Phuket Indy market nearby, we’ll revisit this cafe too!
If this post helped you in some way and you’d like to buy me a coffee, I’d be incredibly grateful (:
