Having stayed at The Outpost Hotel once before, I was quite excited to be back again to check out some aspects that I didn’t get to the last time, like their breakfast and activities for in-house guests. Needless to say, this second stay was only possible because Trip.com had a really good deal, one that included breakfast too!
This hotel was originally positioned as an adults-only hotel, where guests needed to be 16 years old and above to stay. However, I recently discovered that since mid-2025, this policy has changed. It is now described as merely “adult-centric” so children can be accommodated if they can fit on the same bed (no additional beds can be added to the rooms due to space constraints).

Check-in
The reception area is located on level 3 of the hotel. Randolph, one of the reception staff, checked my husband and I in and showed us the dining discounts we could use with our hotel key cards at restaurants in the vicinity.
I was glad to see Yenny there as well (she checked us in the last time we were here) and we chatted briefly. She was just as candid and friendly as I remember her to be (: Thanks to her, we were upgraded to the Deluxe Room Sea View once again!

Guests get to pick their preferred mini-bar items during check-in, consisting of either a selection of two bottles of Sachi wine plus one other snack or five snacks and/or non-alcoholic drinks. We were agonizing a little over our final snack choice when Yenny offered their latest addition at the time: The signature iced chocolate from Bootstrap! That was a winner for us. In fact, she brought two bottles out and handed both to us, super nice of her ❤
Additionally, guests can enjoy a welcome drink typically served in a cute pineapple container but the staff don’t really seem to offer it proactively. We didn’t request for it since we already tried it during our previous stay.

Room
Our assigned room was on level 6, the top floor of the hotel. Everything about it was similar to the previous room we stayed in but with a very welcome change: There were no dubious stains on the linen this time. The bathroom configuration also differed in that both the shower and water closet were combined as opposed to having separate access doors.
The firm pillow I requested for was delivered very promptly. However, the bed remained on the softer side. Oddly enough, there was no turndown service available this stay. The operator said that they only have room-makeup service but that wasn’t applicable on the day of check-in.

Facilities
I’ve covered the pools and gym in my review of Village Hotel Sentosa as the two hotels share these facilities, so do check that out if you’d like to find out more. As I was taking a walk around the pools, I noticed there was a steam room located at the shower stalls near the Pamukkale Pool, something I overlooked the last time.

We decided to have lunch at Sol & Ora again just like we did on our last stay as the weather was a little too hot for venturing outside. My husband ordered the tried-and-tested tagliatelle ‘Corsican’ carbonara ($32++) while I went for the Fontina scrambled eggs ($22++).

Alas, our meal didn’t go smoothly. I asked the wait staff if it was possible to change the sourdough to brioche – he simply nodded and walked off. When my dish was served with sourdough, I checked with another staff, who then informed that it couldn’t be swapped and that I had to order the brioche separately. I learned that the previous wait staff placed this separate additional order, which I quickly asked to cancel. However, the kitchen had already prepared it, so she gave it to us at no extra cost, explaining that her colleague was new and still learning the ropes.
My dish tasted pretty average and nothing stood out in particular. The brioche had an interesting texture – it was fluffy like most are but also slightly more chewy, plus it didn’t break apart as easily. My husband liked the black olive tapenade that came with it.

I was almost done with my meal but my husband’s carbonara was nowhere in sight. We knew the menu already mentioned a waiting period of 15 minutes but it had been at least 45. My husband checked with that same wait staff and it resulted in a bit of scrambling in the kitchen (we suspect our carbonara order got mistakenly cancelled on the system). Anyway, we eventually got to enjoy the delicious carbonara, definitely our go-to dish here.
When the bill came, we were pleasantly surprised to find that they also didn’t charge us for the carbonara, which I thought was a nice gesture. In addition, I could utilize a 15% voucher from the Sentosa Islander membership. I appreciated how they made good on their errors with such proactive service recovery.

Having missed the opportunity to experience their complimentary guest activities the last time, I enquired ahead of our stay this time and signed us up for the Sachi cocktail-making workshop held from 4pm to 5pm on our check-in day.
Sachi Soy Wine is apparently the very first soy alcoholic beverage brewed locally. Jonathan, the CEO of Sachi, led the workshop, kicking off with an introduction to the wines and how they are manufactured.
What followed was a tasting of the original flavoured wine. This was very light and didn’t have much of an alcohol taste, which was perfectly suited to me. We were told that it had notes of apples, grapes, raisins, plums, peaches, dates and honey. For a stronger wine taste, he suggested heating it up a little. He then demonstrated how to create a simple cocktail with ingredients provided before we got to make our own.
The cocktail making actually took just 20 to 30 minutes but the rest of the time was spent in conversation with Jonathan and the other participants as we sipped our finished products. As staying guests, we were also given a special promo code for 20% off purchases from their website (OUTPOST20).

During our stay, there was a light and water show called Wings Of Time happening down at Siloso Beach. Towards the end of the show, there was a fireworks segment visible from the deck at Pamukkale Pool and 1-Altitude Coast Bar. This show typically has two runs in the evening, with the first (and very short) burst of fireworks happening at around 7.50pm/8.50pm and the slightly longer, more varied slew at around 8pm/9pm respectively. Something to note if you’d like a free fireworks spectacle!

Our stay package included breakfast this time and it was served at Sol & Ora between 6.30am and 10.30am. It was a bit of a hassle though as we needed to make a prior reservation. Dining was restricted to 1-hour slots, plus we were limited to just one main per person (free-flow items comprised a tiny selection of breads, fruits and drinks). There wasn’t much variety in the mains options as well.
I ordered the kimchi rice, which came with vegetables, a fried egg and some pieces of crispy pork belly. It tasted okay, not bad but not memorable either. My husband got the classic chicken and waffles – a slightly better option than mine. Although the waffles were crisp on the outside, they were quite dense and pasty on the inside. The chicken was small but delicious though. For me, the best item was the croissant as it was amazingly crispy, flaky and buttery.

My overall rating of the experience: 4 out of 5 stars. I was super thankful there were no cleanliness concerns about our room this time and it was a comfortable stay. A lovely bonus was that Yenny gifted us with an additional bottle of Bootstrap iced chocolate ❤ Additionally, despite the mix-ups we encountered during lunch at Sol & Ora, the senior staff there were very professional and took the initiative to offer solid service recovery. Unfortunately, much of the food from both lunch and breakfast the next day was unimpressive and average at best. I also thought the cocktail-making workshop could’ve been more engaging and informative about the craft itself as opposed to simply being a marketing platform for Sachi. If you’re planning to spend the whole day out and just need a place to rest for the night, this hotel would fit the bill as the rooms here are clean and modern, though generally on the smaller side.
Here are some links to discounted F&B vouchers for 1-Altitude Coast Bar and Sol & Ora if you’re planning on dining there! A little saving never hurt anyone 😉
If this post helped you in some way and you’d like to buy me a coffee, I’d be incredibly grateful (:
