Review: Betty’s Burgers & Concrete Co. Restaurant, Surfers Paradise (Gold Coast, Australia)

Betty’s Burgers was my favourite restaurant of the whole trip and I’m so glad that TripAdvisor and its reviewers led my husband and I here. They have many branches all over Australia so it seems like they’re doing really well, and rightfully so! The branch we dined at was the one at Chevron Renaissance Shopping Centre in Surfers Paradise and boy, were we in for some good food and great value.

Both the interior and exterior were beautifully designed, with the whole place exuding the vibes of an upclass diner. There was a well-balanced combination of both metal and wood elements used in the decor, and somehow it worked, with no one element overpowering the other. The generous touches of greenery, coupled with the fairy lights across the ceilings, perfectly completed the chic and modern look of this restaurant.

Indoor and outdoor dining sections were both available, but because the weather was quite warm that day, we decided to sit inside.

I am of the opinion that certain types of food are really difficult to mess up, and one of them is the humble burger. However, after eating the burgers at Dreamworld (only mentioned in my review at the end) and at Master Tom’s (read that review in more detail), I realized it is actually possible to have an awful-tasting burger.

Here at Betty’s Burgers however, we didn’t need to worry about that happening. Their burgers were juicy, flavourful and well-seasoned without being overly salty. I’m guessing that Betty’s secret sauce has something to do with their burgers’ awesome taste, adding a creamy and tangy lift to the whole dish. My husband also ordered onion rings, which I did not expect to partake of at all because onion rings aren’t my thing, but I ended up sharing it with him because it tasted really good! They were lightly battered and fried, with the onions being cooked through so there wasn’t that pungent, stinging attack on my tastebuds when I bit into them.

The best part was, we paid a total of $26 for our entire dinner! A lot more affordable than some of the other restaurants we dined at, plus with better-tasting food. Definitely a bang for your buck.

My overall rating of the experience: 5 out of 5 stars. I honestly can’t find anything to fault in this experience – the food was delicious, the ambience was inviting (fairy lights are THE BEST), the location was conveniently accessible, the staff were polite, and the value we got with these prices was just phenomenal. Maybe the only thing to lament was that my burger ended too quickly, heh. Will visit this place again in a heartbeat for sure!
